Exporting UK onions to Malaysia

By | Growers, Customers | No Comments

Rush Group is currently exporting British onions to South East Asia and is always looking to develop new markets around the world for UK produce.

Perfect growing conditions and soils in Britain, particularly in East Anglia, help produce incredibly high quality onions for which the UK is known. The soil in these counties is free-draining, packed with the right nutrients, and always part of a carefully measured rotation system. UK farmers rotate their onion crop with potatoes or other crops with low-volume residues in order to minimise herbicide and pesticide applications and prevent nitrate leaching. These factors, among others, go a long way to explain why UK onions have such a high reputation across the world and why they are suitable for export.

Malaysia is a growing market for Rush Group with a customer base which prefers the smaller 40-60mm onions, packed in nets. Rush can organise any size of product and packaging through its pack-house in Lincolnshire. Access to this kind of facility gives the Group the ability to control packaging and offer all weights and qualities with full traceability. This makes them a very attractive company for the Malaysians to do business with.

Rush’s office in Malaysia is another strong selling point for the Group. This constant local presence means that any issues can be dealt with quickly and efficiently, as well as having a deep understanding of the local market requirements.

Rush has the ability to provide a consistent supply of onions to markets throughout the world and it is this continuity and efficiency which is highly attractive to Rush’s customers. This is only achievable through its network of professional growers around the UK, who supply the Group with the right product, at the right time and at the right price.
